What Roblox means by Roleplay & Avatar Sim

“Games where players immerse themselves in various roles, often with avatar customization. They emphasize creativity, social interaction, and personal expression.”

Roblox Creator Hub, Genres (Roblox Creator Hub), checked Oct 11, 2026.

Roleplay & Avatar Sim covers games where you take on a role and dress the part. Roblox lists five subgenres: Life games, where you act out everyday scenes like a house, a school or a town; Pet Care, where you raise a pet; Dress Up, built around outfits; Animal Sim, where you play as an animal; and Morph Roleplay, where you become a set character that does not look like your avatar.

These games are made for playing with other people, so the chat and friend settings in Roblox's Parental Controls are worth a look before a child joins; each ObbyDesk hub links Roblox's own steps. The table shows each game's subgenre and Roblox's maturity label.

The genre is Roblox's, shown on each game's Roblox page. The developer picks it, and Roblox says: “Roblox regularly reviews games and may update any genre selections that appear inaccurate.” ObbyDesk never moves a game to another genre. Roblox also says: “Roblox also uses this information when placing games in genre-specific top and trending sorts on the Charts page.”
