BedWars Beginner Guide: Tutorial, Free Kits and First Buys
TL;DR: Play the free Tutorial first: entering it opens the other limited-time modes, and finishing it gives a one-week kit rental. Then queue Squads, wall your bed in wool before you leave base, and use the 3 free weekly kits (4 from player level 20) instead of buying one.

Your bed is your extra life, and this BedWars beginner guide is about keeping it alive. As long as it stands you respawn; once it breaks, your next death sends you to the spectators. It also covers how to spend your first iron and how to get kits without Robux. Halloween Part 3 is live until November 3, but the basics come first.

Overview: what BedWars is and who makes it
BedWars is made by Easy.gg, a Roblox group with 4,747,085 members on Oct 29. Its website calls the team "an independent game development studio" that has "shipped over 200 content updates". The game page sums up the main mode in three lines: "Protect your bed. Once it's gone, you can no longer respawn!", "Gather resources to purchase items and team upgrades", and "Destroy enemy beds and eliminate players to win the game!"
There is more than one mode. The page promises "over 10+ thrilling modes like Bed Wars, Lucky Block, SkyWars, Infected", plus a Creative mode for building your own games. Servers hold up to 40 players.
BedWars was created in May 2021 and had 11,809,212,848 visits on Oct 29. It was 82nd on Roblox's Top Playing Now chart at 06:15 UTC that morning, with 11,301 players, and still 82nd at 07:08 UTC with 11,793. Easy.gg's own site lists "350k+ Peak Concurrent Users" for its community. Our tracker's best recent reading is far below that: a 30-day peak of 42,307 at 02:00 UTC on Oct 17, when the game hit #29. That is outside the top 25 on our most played Roblox games right now list.

Which mode to start in
The developer does not name a beginner mode. Players do. In a thread about losing every game, one reply with 7 points said: "I don't really recommend playing doubles as beginners because the pacing is really fast. I recommend you queue squads" (Reddit, Aug 28). In another, a 7-point answer went further: "id recommend beginners to play squads or 16v16 or any bigger/fun modes like lucky block." It ended with "AND NO RANKED." (Reddit, Sep 2).

Your first match, minute by minute
Start with the Tutorial. The fan wiki says it was added in July 2024 for "new players to learn about the basic concepts of the game". You have to play it before you can join limited-time modes other than Classic and Lucky Block, and the wiki adds that "play doesn't mean complete". Finishing it is what gives the Scholar title and a rental ticket for Barbarian, Archer, Builder or Farmer Cletus "for a week".
The Tutorial's own order is a good plan for every early match:
- Grab iron at your team generator. It sits behind you when you spawn. The fan wiki says a level 0 generator makes 1 iron per second, up to 100 iron.
- Buy Leather Armor, a Stone Sword and Wool from the shopkeeper.
- Wall your bed. "Place wool blocks around your bed" is step 7. Do it before anything else.
- Bridge to the diamond and emerald generators with wool.
- Press C to recall to base, then spend diamonds on team upgrades. The wiki says diamonds "can only be used to purchase team upgrades".
- Bridge to an enemy base and break their bed with your axe.
Two timers matter, per the wiki's Bed page. For the first 4 minutes beds have a plating on them (6 minutes in 16v16 and Ranked; Winstreak and Duels have none). Breaking an enemy's plating speeds up your own generator by 30%, per the Team Generator page. And "once the GUI timer hits 20 minutes, the beds will automatically break", so a match that runs past 20 minutes becomes a last-life fight.

Analysis: what to buy with your first iron
Iron buys almost everything in the Item Shop. Emeralds buy the top gear, and diamonds go only to team upgrades. Prices from the fan wiki's Item Shop page:
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wool (16 blocks) | 8 iron | Bridges and your first bed wall |
| Stone Sword | 20 iron | In the Tutorial's starter set |
| Leather Armor | 50 iron | Helmet, chestplate and boots |
| Bow | 24 iron | Ranged weapon; arrows are 16 iron for 8 |
| Blastproof Ceramic (4 blocks) | 16 iron | Blastproof, like the bed |
| Iron Sword | 70 iron | Replaces the Stone Sword |
| Iron Armor | 120 iron | Replaces Leather Armor |
| Telepearl | 2 emeralds | Teleport item |
Desk note: The Tutorial set is 50 + 20 + 8 = 78 iron. At 1 iron per second from a level 0 generator, that's about 80 seconds of standing at base. Iron Armor alone is two minutes more. Wall the bed first, then shop.
The bed itself is blastproof, per the wiki, so TNT and fireballs cannot destroy it. The same page names Blastproof Ceramic among the few other blastproof blocks, which makes it the sturdier bed wall once you have the basics.
Worth it? Iron Sword at 70 iron: Maybe. It costs almost as much as the whole starter set.
- If you're new: buy armor and the bed wall first; the sword can wait until your bed is covered.
- If you're grinding: buy it once your team generator is upgraded and iron comes faster.
- For parents: the Item Shop takes in-match iron and emeralds, not Robux.
Free kits vs paid kits
Kits are characters with their own abilities. You do not need to buy one. The fan wiki says "Each week, three (four at player level 20) kits are free to use", and they rotate on Fridays. The October 16 update set them to Grim Reaper, Raven, Crypt and Arachne (the level 20 one). The wiki still showed that set on Oct 29, although its own note said it would be updated on Oct 23, so by Oct 31 the Kit Shop may show different kits.
Roblox's store data on Oct 29 listed 46 kits as game passes at 399 Robux each, and 16 more kits as in-game products: 7 at 399, Zola at 479, and 8 former battle pass kits at 599, including Trapper and Fisherman. The Halloween 2026 Battle Pass is 799. The Halloween kit Gregory, added October 23, places gargoyle statues and sits at level 35 of that pass, per the wiki.
You can also unlock kits with BedCoins. The wiki prices older kits at 10,000 BedCoins, newer ones at 12,000 and former battle pass kits at 25,000. Players no longer earn BedCoins for playing matches; that was removed in November 2025. The free sources left include 60 an hour in the AFK area and a free 100 in the Daily Shop's Daily Offers section. The store also sells BedCoins, from 1,000 for 49 Robux to 26,000 for 999.
Desk note: A 10,000-BedCoin kit is about 167 hours in the AFK area, or 100 days if you claim the free 100 every day. The 46 kit passes alone add up to 18,354 Robux, and the 16 product kits add 8,064 more. The free rotation is the sane route.
On r/RobloxBedwars, one answer in a "what kit should I buy" thread got 7 points: "I would say for a beginner use lassy/evelyn/yuzi" (Reddit, Sep 4). Lassy, Evelynn and Yuzi are all 399 Robux kits in the store, so try them when they rotate in for free.

Halloween Part 3 and the Friday updates
The game description says "Updates are every FRIDAY at 3:00pm PDT, 6:00pm EDT". Halloween Event Part 3 follows that clock: Roblox lists it from 22:00 UTC on October 30 to 04:00 UTC on November 3. That is 3 p.m. PT on Friday to 8 p.m. PT on Monday, November 2, after US clocks fall back on November 1. The Part 2 and Part 3 listings had no description when we checked, so we can't say on the developer's word what Part 3 adds.
Part 1, which started October 16, brought back Marrow's Madness, Arachne's Lair and Infected, per the fan wiki. Beating Marrow's Madness gave the Skeleton kit and beating Arachne's Lair gave the Arachne kit, free for anyone who won the boss fight. We could not confirm those modes are still up in Part 3. Roblox's own The Hollow event also runs until November 2; our Roblox The Hollow event guide covers it.

Our take
Play the Tutorial, then Squads, and skip buying kits. Entering the Tutorial opens the limited-time modes, and finishing it hands out a free kit rental. Three free kits a week, plus the rental, is plenty for a player still learning to guard a bed. Spend your first 78 iron on the starter set, wool included, and cover your bed before you chase anyone else's.
For parents: Roblox labels BedWars Minimal, and the Item Shop inside a match takes no Robux. The Roblox store around it is big: 50 passes and 184 in-game products for sale on Oct 29. Kit skins mostly cost 799 Robux, and the priciest product is "50 Levels" of the battle pass for 15,000 Robux, so a spending limit in Roblox parental controls is worth setting.
Our view, from the sources in this article.
How we checked this
We read the game's data, description, group, age label, store (passes and in-game products), event listings and thumbnails through a public mirror of Roblox's official APIs on October 29, 2026, and the Top Playing Now chart at 06:15 UTC; the store, events and chart were read again at 07:08 UTC. The 30-day peak and best rank come from ObbyDesk's own chart tracker. The Tutorial, bed timers, prices, kits and BedCoins come from the BedWars fan wiki on Fandom, which is unofficial. Easy.gg's own website gave the studio facts. Reddit comments were read through the Arctic Shift archive. We could not read the BedWars X account or Discord, and we did not play the game. All 39 sources are in our source file. Last reviewed October 29, 2026.
